26 Life Lessons at 26

Note: my birthday was last month. Some of the sentences won’t make as much sense time-wise because I wrote them on the week of my birthday but let’s just stick to it, shall we? My birthday surpassed a few weeks ago and to make things ironic, I am writing about some life lessons that I’ve acquired through the years. That’s right – I’m 26 this year! (Not that I can believe it myself but I don’t flinch when I say this. Side note – I still feel like I’m 21!) Some of these will be through coming-of-age, others through the university/trying to adult stage but I’m sure majority will be from the true ‘adulting’ experience. Enjoy! 1. Learning to Accept Compliments I used to be that awkward child who was so modest whenever I heard any compliments towards me that I wonder if I ever believed them myself. Probably not whereas now I say thank you every time I hear one. ‘You have really good hair!’…‘Oh really?’…Er…yeah, why would you doubt that? 2. Saying ‘No’ High school me …

Life Update: New Job, New Everything, a Plan B

I’m not someone who does a life update as such…I would even consider myself as quite a private person but since there are two major things we spend a lot of hours doing in our life – working and sleeping, I thought I could at least update you with one of those things. As you may know from one of my recent posts, I have a new job that I will be starting in June! It has been a bit of a struggle to find new direction – tough even so I’m happy to be able to move forward and take a plan B. It was quite the challenge for sure and through it, I faced some of my fears which actually were not so fearful. Even now, I haven’t quite processed the news but I’m sure once I start, it’ll be quite the journey. There is a 4-week induction period and overall, a 6-month probation. This is all very new territory to me so I’m not quite sure what to expect. On interview day …

Sentiments of Traveling to a ‘Second Home’ – My Family Roots

Today is a Monday. I’ve just come back from Hong Kong yesterday morning, the plane arriving at 4.40am. By the time we went through customs, got all our luggage and headed out to the Central Bus Station, we got some coffee at a Caffe Nero and sat down. At this point, we had about an hour and a half before we could board the 7.10am coach back home, which we had booked beforehand. By the time we arrived, it was about 11am! Or a little earlier than that actually. A few days ago, it had snowed quite heavily so as a result, there was a lot of snow remaining meaning that we had to drag our luggage across much of it (not fun!) before we could locate our car and drive back home. I want to write about this experience whilst it is still fresh in my mind and still adjusting to UK everyday life again. I have been to Hong Kong many times, seeing as some of my family roots lie there – but …

30 Beauty Questions Tag

It’s been a while since I last did a tag but from what I remember, they’re fun and interactive! I saw Stella’s post and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to take part too. 🙂 I have told you a bit about myself in Q&As but I am sure that there are some beauty-related gaps that haven’t been filled. Well, you know what they say – if you don’t ask, you don’t tell! 😝 Let’s Start: Do you remember your first makeup item? I’m certain that it was a mascara by Rimmel. I doubt that they sell it anymore since it was so long ago! At the time, my eldest brother’s girlfriend wore this mascara but I cannot remember if she gifted one to me or if I just went ahead and bought my own. I do remember however, that she bought other makeup for me. 🙂 Describe your perfect mascara. It has to hold the curl! Otherwise, it is a deal-breaker for me I’m afraid. I like a mascara that lifts my lashes and gives …

Coffee Break: Get To Know Me More

Today I thought I’d do a different post as it’s truly been a while since I sat down and chatted to you all about…well, me. I’ve been posting a lot about beauty and skincare lately and whilst that’s very close to my heart, I want to start chatting about the more important things in life such as self-care, and in the broader spectrum of things, some political issues. I think that’ll be my next instalment for the blog in the new year, but for now, please grab a coffee break with me. 🙂 These are just some facts about me illustrated by some photos I’ve taken myself… I won’t be numbering anything but rather, just let my mind do its thing. Feel free to join in and make your own posts/comments? This isn’t dissimilar to the ‘100 Facts About Me’ tag etc. but there is less restraint I suppose. If you couldn’t tell, I love taking pictures of coffee when I’m at a coffee house – even if it’s just a Starbucks or Costa. Even …
