5 Beauty Products I Took To Berlin

Before I went to Berlin for a 5-day trip, I had thought to create a post on what I was taking beauty-wise (skincare and makeup). Skincare planning did not go to waste and in fact – I thought I did rather well. (Upcoming post on that soon!) But on the makeup front, I have to admit that I didn’t use everything that I brought with me. It’s silly really, and somehow I do this every time. It’s almost like I have an irrational fear of not having enough makeup with me on my travels!

So today, I’m showing you the exact 5 products that I did use during the whole course of my trip to sport a less is more look.

Featured in this post:

Bobbi Brown SPF 50 Protective Face Base
Etude House Drawing Eyebrow Duo in 1 Dark Brown
L’Oréal A Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara
Dior Addict Lipstick in 871 Power
Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder in Pale Yellow

I believe all of these products have been previously featured in my favourites post, which is one of the key aspects you should focus on when beauty-packing for travel. Unless you know it’s a good product for you, don’t pack it. Getting ready in the morning is more fun and efficient when products work with you and not against you. After all, the last thing you want is your base piling and your mascara running down your face. (Ain’t nobody got time to do their makeup all over again!)

Even though I packed a foundation with me, I specifically picked Bobbi Brown SPF 50 Protective Face Base as my only base to use because I noticed my skin was a bit congested on the first day which is normal for me whenever I travel. The base offers no coverage but the key is that it offers protection. That would be my number one priority and should be yours too when you travel!

Aside from protection, the base doubles up as a great moisturiser too, even though I always use one underneath. I am liking this product even more now that it’s fall. It’s a cream-based product that is easy to work into the skin – very lightweight. It has a planty smell, a bit unusual but I really like it; something that you’ll have to see for yourself. The base does leave me looking a bit shiny (or dewy should I say?), but it’s nothing a little powder can’t fix. Of course, no dreaded white-cast…if anything, it makes my skin feel clean and pretty.

Once my base is done, I move onto eyebrows. These few months, I have been using Etude House Drawing Eyebrow Duo in 1 Dark Brown so it was a no-brainer to take this with me upon my travels. I would really recommend Etude House for their eyebrow products that I think they give Benefit a run for their money! This particular product achieves defined, but soft, natural brows; perfect for everyday.

For eyes, I went completely simple. One product: L’Oréal A Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara. I had a phase where I did eyeliner everyday but I’m not about that life anymore. Part laziness, part preference. I actually like this mascara more now that it’s had time to settle. It’s one of the very few mascaras that actually holds my curl, combs through my lashes and doesn’t flake or transfer on me. Winner!

Now, on a day-to-day basis, I’m not exactly a lipstick girl. I’m not that into the mattes and super high pigmentation. I’m actually more into the sheerness of products; the creams, the layers. I’m not done with Dior Addict Lipstick in 871 Power just yet…the love continues. It’s one of my splurges I 100% don’t regret. I would describe it as a grapefruit pink shade that’s not in-your-face but still catches the eye because it’s so pretty.

Lastly, I finish with Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder in Pale Yellow which I really don’t have much left of. Yet I still took it with me because I refuse to waste an ounce of it. I only ever have to touch up once with this. The packaging is maybe a tad bulky (not heavy though) but it’s sleek and fits nicely in my makeup bag. I will be sad when this finally dies on me!

…and this is the final look! (Ignore my pyjama and headband, haha…)

P.S. My brows are naturally a bit uneven – does anyone else have this problem? As you can see one is more arched/curved and the other more straight. Sometimes I think it is my facial muscles that cause this!

Something a little different today. I think this is only my second ‘makeup of the day’ post I’ve ever written! Maybe I can challenge myself to do more of these? [See my first one here]

I apologise for the infrequency of posts lately, I’ve been working on some new personal projects that I’ve had to put the blog on a slow-burner for a bit. There’s also been a lack of natural light which really doesn’t help with inspiring a photography game. Nevertheless, I will figure out how best to organise everything into balance!

Take care. 🙂 ❤

      • I really like their hydrating eye cream and they just came out with a gorgeous blush for breast cancer awareness 👏🏻

      • Oh the blush sounds great! I’ve heard lots of things about the eye cream but I haven’t tried it before…haven’t tried any of their skincare in fact. Will look into it! 🙂

  1. I feel I should take a leaf from your book when it comes to beauty products and travelling! I’m terrible when it comes to taking things with me, I usually take two separate large make up bags full of makeup and skin care, then I wont even use half of it!! I might try and limit myself one product from each facial part and see how that goes 🙂

    • It’s horrible isn’t it?! All that unnecessary weight that is actually quite heavy. 😂 I’ve learnt from my own mistakes, so this page is more like a reminder to myself to bring a kit as minimalist as this! Definitely look for multi-tasking products too, that saves a lot of space, good luck! X

  2. That face base looks brilliant – and like E X A C T L Y what I need. Great post; I hope you had fun in Berlin! (Also you are GLOWING in those photos!) x
