I like to keep it as real as possible on this blog. And as it turns out for the month of May, I don’t have many beauty or fashion favourites to offer you. I can only think of two products off the top of my head that could make the cut, but that’s not really a sufficient amount for a Favourites post. I’m currently in the process of trying out a lot of new products but most are still too new to form a full opinion, let alone be considered a Favourite.
Instead, I’m offering you my most recent Lifestyle Favourites which I feel is most appropriate in summing up the month!
So…let’s begin shall we?
Favourite Songs at this moment:
First things first, here’s a quick run-through of the songs that I’ve listened to the most in the past few weeks! (In no particular order)
1️⃣ Dua Lipa ft. Miguel – Lost In Your Light
2️⃣ Harry Styles – Sign Of The Times
3️⃣ Harry Styles – Sweet Creature
4️⃣ Shawn Mendes – There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back
5️⃣ Selena Gomez – Bad Liar
6️⃣ The Chainsmokers – Break Up Every Night
7️⃣ Hailee Steinfeld – Most Girls
8️⃣ Lana Del Rey (with The Weeknd) – Lust For Life
9️⃣ In Love With A Ghost – we’ve never met but, can we have a coffee or something?
🔟 In Love With A Ghost – flowers feat. Nori
I recently started a bullet journal!
After some research, many people seemed to suggest the LEUCHTTURM 1917 Notebook Medium (A5), Softcover, Dotted as the ultimate bullet journal for its size, pages and design. I would have to agree. The size and thickness is perfect, making it very easy to carry around. The dotted pages make such a difference in creating all kinds of pages (trackers, grids, landscape/portrait layout). I even hear that architects use this to draw up their designs accurately!
It is a bit pricey but it’s really down to personal preference whether you’re willing to invest or not. To be honest, there are most likely cheaper alternatives or you could just buy a cheap, lined notebook but I’m a sucker for good paper and stationary!
With a good notebook, comes good stationary, right? The Stabilo Point 88 Fineliner in Black and Crayola Washable Supertips (24 pack) are definitely not new in my collection but are my stationary favourites even when I was just using an ordinary diary. They’re smooth on paper and make pages really presentable!
I’m sure you have heard of this series being hyped, which is the only reason I came round to watching it! I’m talking about 13 Reasons Why of course.
It’s about a young girl named Hannah Baker who commits suicide and leaves behind recorded tapes, revealing 13 reasons why she chose to end her life. These tapes are only sent to those who are culprits one way or another. In short, it’s a modern-day An Inspector Calls.
The series has been slated for not portraying depression or suicide realistically however I feel that the central message was completely there, and very well done in showing how every small action can account to problems snowballing into something big. One aspect I particularly liked was showing the school’s stance in such situation which threatens its reputation. It really got me asking a lot of questions such as how accountable can a school be in teenage depression/suicide? Something that makes you think is always good!
The other drama that I have been watching lately is Healer. I’ve been more meticulous than ever this year in what I choose to watch – meaning anything that is full of clichés gets a ‘miss’ from me. But this is so well-written both in its story and character development that I feel obligated to praise it! It’s hard to say what it’s about so read the synopsis and check it out if you’re into Korean dramas! Its characters are some of the freshest and individual I’ve encountered in a while.
More recently, I’ve been using the website more often and as well as a lot of free workout sheets for abs, legs etc. – there’s even a music player and workout timer underneath which is so handy.
Although I don’t use the workout sheets routinely for my workouts, I do refer to it for inspiration or if I want to do a different workout. One section I have to praise though is the exercise guide because at times, I forget how to do a certain move (I don’t always follow videos) or I look for new ones. Plus, can we also talk about the website layout? So clean and chic!
Okay. Last one now. This time, it’s a YouTuber who goes by the username madebyaya. She refashions a lot of old clothes into new items as well as make new clothes (or accessories) using her own existing clothes as guide and inspiration for the fit and pattern-making process. She doesn’t speak in her videos but she’s definitely the finest demonstrators I’ve seen across the internet and this is coming from someone who’s watched a lot of creative videos! Aya’s own ideas and style really comes across and in sustainably doing so at times, it’s really convinced me to do the same too. 🙂
