To say that I’ve done a bit of damage this month is probably an understatement, but I know myself – I generally don’t shop skincare and beauty that often, and when I do – it is normally a real essential which is more than forgivable. The last few beauty items that I bought were a drugstore mascara and 2 sunscreens which is hardly wild and were purchases done perhaps close to two months now.
Here’s the deal: I sometimes think you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself when spending. You deserve to treat yourself once in a while! Unless of course, you have too much of the same thing which might be a real problem. But in my case, I’ve been good. I’ve been using up products (See: The Beauty Clean-Up Series) and due to use up more from my current skincare routine…so in a way, I’m being organised for my next routine. (Is there ever a real justification on spending money other than wanting to spend and buy something pretty?) 😛
Let’s start shall we?
NARUKO Rose and Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Hydrating Mask
My Beauty Diary Bird’s Nest Mask
su:m37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick
Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Set: Lotion (Rich) + Milk + Gel
It’s Skin Collagen Nutrition Eye Cream
It’s Skin Babyface B.B Cream
Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Pact
Online Shopping Habit
The last online shop I did was with The Ordinary (via VictoriaHealth) (see haul post here). The last time I shopped with YesStyle though was actually last May which is a year ago! Due to this, you can say that I go all out when I eventually do online-shop because I know I won’t be ordering month after month. That is just not my style. I either go all out or not at all and the variation between the two are months apart which I think is more-than-reasonably healthy.
Order & Process
Due to the amount I ordered, I qualified for express shipping meaning that once shipped, the parcel would come within 3-5 days. However, there is a bit of a catch, because depending on what you have ordered, YesStyle may have to order certain products from their supplier on your behalf before officially shipping the whole package out because not everything is available in their immediate warehouse. This is clearly marked per item though as either:
‘In Stock – Usually ships within 24 hours’
‘Usually ships within 21 days’
Personally, this doesn’t bother me but do keep that in mind. If anything, just order the items that are in-stock (there is a tab for this) and you’re good to go!
Once the order is dispatched, it actually still took a week and 2 days however, I was notified and made aware of everything that was happening. When it got dispatched, the delay, what time I was to expect it on a certain day – and it was damn accurate!
The Haul – What Am I Trying Out Next?
Everything that I picked out is a completely new product to me – I guess the title gives that away. I was in the mood of trying a bunch of new things!
I realised that I was coming to a low on facial sheet masks, so I asked a beauty friend for some suggestions, and she recommended NARUKO and My Beauty Diary Masks among a few others. As it turns out, I picked up the NARUKO Rose and Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Hydrating Mask and My Beauty Diary Bird’s Nest Mask. I have to say – I’m unfamiliar with both products although I have tried a couple of MBD sheet masks and they are among some of my favourites. But in terms of reviews and hypes, I have heard nothing. (To be honest, this probably means nothing but just FYI.) I am particularly excited to try NARUKO because the whole brand is new to me, and as something pricier, I am expecting great things!
The next newbie in the beauty family is the su:m37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick. I would say that this is my ‘gimmick’ purchase. Honestly, half the reason I bought this was because I’ve never tried a cleansing stick before and I was curious. Otherwise, this does have positive reviews albeit a bit pricey but we shall see if it’s worth it. 😉
Now as I’m writing this, I realised that I lied a bit when I said everything was completely new to me. I purchased the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Set, because it was a damn good deal. I have used the lotion (rich) and moisturising milk before and loved both, so why not just get the set and save some $$$? The gel is the ‘new product’ to me in this set, so I look forward to using that as I did consider buying it separately in the past!
The last skincare product in this haul is the It’s Skin Collagen Nutrition Eye Cream. For my eye cream step, I’ve been using Clinique for two cycles so I thought it was finally time to try something new in the eye area once that runs out. I find it the trickiest to shop for eye cream because I feel that they either work, or don’t at all so chances are, you’re probably spending $$$ before anything really works! Buying this is therefore a risk to me, but considering the positive reviews, I think it’s worth the shot. 🙂
Makeup-wise, I only purchased two products: It’s Skin Babyface B.B Cream and Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Pact. Seeing as the weather is getting warmer, I wanted to get a lighter base that wasn’t foundation – plus I currently don’t own a BB Cream! I know that Western drugstore brands now have their own version of the BB Cream, but to be honest, I haven’t been interested enough to go try them out. For starters, I’ve been quite disappointed with the colour selection that is either too light or too dark for me. But saying that, ironically I have little experience with Asian BB Creams. I guess this will be the start of something special?
The Innisfree powder is of course, a much hyped about K-beauty product, and I don’t know how I’ve only just got around to buying it! I bought the pact version rather than the loose powder because my current compact is coming to an end and I desperately needed something to replace it. Let me tell you: I am very, very careful when buying powders. It has to be undetectable, light and translucent on the skin otherwise there’s just no chance of me using it. I’ll keep you all updated once I try this (and everything else above) out!
I hope you all enjoyed this post! 🙂 I’ll be testing these out soon, as I slowly change into an almost entirely different skincare routine (once my current products become empties). By then, I’ll write a couple of reviews.
I’m sorry for not being as active this month. I’ve been organising a lot of things behind-the-scenes and admittedly non-blog-related but nonetheless, I’ll be back before you know it!
Let’s be friends on:
