The Beauty Clean-Up #3 (empties)

More trash. (I know I know. I’m spoiling you with two empties posts in a month!)

I never thought I’d get so excited about collecting trash but it’s come to my attention now that I need to dispose of them and subsequently tell you about them.

(How crazy is it that this is my third instalment already?!)

I have a lot of empties to get through, so let’s start shall we?

Face & Base

Featured in my first ever haul post, you may know about the  Boots Botanics Organic Rosewater Toning Spritz. Two months and it’s become an empty. Not a drop wasted. I’ve already repurchased another one. Perfect refresher, lovely as a toner and the nozzle sprays very finely. I’m just surprised it managed to last me two months since I was using it day and night!

Now, I don’t think I need to talk too much about the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel as it’s been featured in these posts. This is my 3rd or 4th bottle (I lost count) and is my favourite moisturiser of all-time, all-year-round. I’m looking to buy another one soon! 😉

The Clinique City Block Sheer SPF 25 is another Clinique favourite – but a newer addition, which I’ve just finished. It was featured in my Running Late? 10 Minutes to Get Ready Routine.  Although it’s described as a sunblock, I find that it’s a great all-in-one for days when you’re going for the no-makeup makeup look as it evens out skin tone and cancels out any redness. Most importantly, no white cast or greasiness!

Eyes & Lips

This isn’t exactly an empty yet (so close but so far!) but I’m throwing away the Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm in Cherry for hygiene reasons since I’ve had this for just over a year. I’ve used this almost everyday. A little goes a long way and somehow I can’t use it up. The product just won’t die on me. Having said that, great product! It really moisturises the lips and is particularly great after a lip scrub.

If you couldn’t tell by now, so far I’ve been showing you not only products I’ve been using daily but products that form part of my skincare routine. I recently finished the No7 Youthful Eye Serum, a new product I was trying out and I love it. I use this day and night along with the Clinique All About Eyes that it’s no wonder they’re both empties. Two products, double impact. Lots of hydration and plumpness!

Treatments

I finally got round to trying out another sample. This time, it’s the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] which a lot of beauty bloggers have raved about. I’m not quite a fan yet however. The sample was too small to truly test out anything on my skin so I guess you can say this ‘experiment’ is inconclusive. No skin reaction though, which is always a good thing.

One product that I’m truly proud to have finished is the Miaroma Sweet Almond Oil. This is my 2nd or 3rd bottle. I used to use this as a facial treatment now and again. Realising that I wasn’t picking this up as much, I started to use this again in-shower either to take my makeup off or as a quick pre-wash hair mask. This is definitely one of my favourite multi-tasking products – definitely one to always have in your cupboard!

My pack of Biore Charcoal Pore Nose Strips also finally ran out. I really savour these for when I really need to use them because there’s nothing more disappointing than peeling a nose strip that’s almost clean. I know that sounds insane but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t like that satisfaction of seeing gunk on a strip for your eyes to see. These nose strips you ask? They really do the job. Yes they’re pricey so buy them on offer. (See my results in this post but be prepared to be grossed out.)

Body & Hair Care

I realise that I don’t show much (if any) of my body care products including what I use in the shower. I say shower because truth be told, I’m not a bath person. I also tend to use the same products over and over again so it’s funny that I haven’t talked about the Sanex Sensitive Shower Gel yet. I discovered this over a year ago and ever since, I’ve been hooked. It’s a milky consistency that offers a gentle foam on the skin. The scent is very soft and not in-your-face. If bath milks are your thing, this is for you!

As for shampoos, I have been trialling and trialling. I have used TRESemmé before but I don’t remember what my thoughts were so here goes: I might have found the shampoo that my hair really likes. The TRESemmé Shampoo and Conditioner 2in1 is in a giant bottle but it’s not expensive. A little goes a long way too though be wary – this does foam up a lot. No irritation though and my hair feels clean but not lank.

I’m very low-maintenance when it comes to hair. However, being that girl with rather straight hair, I like to use dry shampoo not just for obvious reasons, but to give my hair some body. The Batiste Dry Shampoo Clean & Classic is not a bad contender however its effect is very momentary. It’s better than not using anything but sometimes I wonder if I should have bothered.

Last but not least: a sample product from a magazine. The Percy & Reed Wonder Overnight Recovery had been sitting in my drawer for quite some time so I finally decided to use it. It’s a leave-in treatment used prior to washing your hair. I can’t quite pinpoint it, but it has that salon smell so it does have that luxe feel. It repairs damage and boosts shine and although it left my hair soft, I’m not sure it’s necessarily for me as I don’t have hard-to-manage hair.

A total of 13 products have been cleaned up! I’m so happy that I can finally bin these for good. (Collecting trash is indeed strange.) It’s such an amazing feeling to finish up products and even more so when you’re more conscious of what you use! This way, you don’t recklessly buy things all the time which never get used up.

It’ll be a while yet, till my next empties post but already, I look forward to that! ❤ 🙂

  1. I just got the Clinique Moisturising Gel! You get so much product for the amount that you pay for 😀

Do you think they’re are any more Clinique items worth purchasing ?

    • Agreed! The bottle is huge so the price is actually really cheap for a higher end product.

I would personally recommend their Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm and I quite like their Sheer City Block SPF 25. Although I purchased some completely new items the other day from them to try out!!
