Hello my lovelies!
It’s that time again to show you what products have been getting my love and attention in the past month. I hope you’ve wrapped up warm and prepared yourselves for this winter! The Christmas lights came on a few weeks ago, and the idea of Christmas is finally surfacing. Have you started your Christmas shop yet?
I love this time of year as I always feel so warm despite it actually being so cold outside. It’s that contrast that makes feeling warm a blessing, a celebration – a type of happiness. And here I am, about to tell you what products have been making me (really) happy!
Are you ready?

Buying products on the whim is lovely when it works: I made a specific trip to the drugstore to find a new toner and saw the Boots Botanics 100% Organic Rosewater Toning Spritz. It’s been a while since using any Boots Botanics product but ultimately, it was the idea of rosewater that sold me. I loved this from first use. Very enjoyable to use, freshens the skin, is soothing and smells gorgeous.
Trying something new sometimes really pays off: The only other thing I got from that same drugstore trip was this: Simple Micellar Cleansing Water and I’ve been using it everyday since. I honestly think it’s much better than Garnier’s version. I use it as my AM cleanser, provided that I go through a thorough routine the night before and I just love how it feels on my skin. As a makeup remover, it’s pleasant compared to Garnier which requires many more cotton pads, however I wouldn’t recommend solely for makeup-removing.
I have used these products so much this month that I have used half of the quantity!
A multi-functional product is a busy girl’s best friend: This month, I have used up a lot of products, primarily essences, serums and other treatments. I have not yet bought replacement items as I’m still figuring out my to-be new skincare routine, but for now the Dr Organic Aloe Vera Gel has been a great accompaniment. I use it after my toner, as a mask/pre-moisturiser as well as an eye gel. It gently tightens the skin, soothes and hydrates even the most problematic skin – redness, inflammation, burns and acne. Packed with antioxidants, you really can’t go wrong! Apparently you can use aloe vera gel for your hair too, but I’ve yet to try that.
The return to face masks that aren’t sheet masks: It’s become a lot colder lately and I’m not going to lie – I’ve become a bit lazy to put something rather cooling on my skin for 30 minutes. I recently dug out The Body Shop Mineral & Ginger Warming Clay Mask and it is perfect for now. For cold weather season. It’s warming as soon as it comes into contact with wet skin. It’s peculiar but very comforting and pleasant to use. It’s a non-drying clay mask; a smooth, thick formula that’s very moisturising. Rinse after 10 minutes and you’re left with soft, conditioned skin that’s been deep cleansed!
Finally, a concealer that I actually like: I generally don’t like (under-eye) concealers. I know, shocking, as many women seem to swear by them as to fake sleep. I haven’t believed in that philosophy yet because quite simply, I’d rather sleep! I honestly feel that concealers can sometimes highlight the problem rather than diminish it or it adds another problem whilst covering the other (i.e. dryness, texture). The Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in 030 Classic Beige has been the closest to my ‘ideal’ concealer. It brightens up my under-eye area, doesn’t cake or add texture (unless you over-apply). The colour-match is perfect too so I’d happily re-purchase!
When all else fails, a pick-me-up lipstick is the one: Some days, I just want a little bit of colour to my lips, but not a full-on lipstick. This is where DIOR Addict Lipstick in 871 Power comes in handy. It is more of a sheer formula, but the colour is buildable. The end result are lips that look like glass – really, really pretty. This formula won’t be for everyone, and the longevity isn’t great (3 hours max) but if you like MAC Lustre formulas, you’ll like this. Youtuber Jen FromHeadToToe mentioned this particular shade in one of her favourites videos, and I got it a year ago based on that. I’ve been reaching for it more lately. It’s a healthy, grapefruit pink colour – it always makes me really happy when I use it!
When you find the right colour, it’s not-so-intimidating after all: This winter, I have been loving MAC Lipstick in Craving (Amplified Finish). The truth is, this time last year and before that, I wasn’t too comfortable with wearing lipstick. Craving was suggested to me by a MAC assistant and she loved it on me. I didn’t buy it there and then, but I came back for it a month later. It is BEAUTIFUL. Super pigmented, long-wearing and creamy. Described as a ‘Burst of Plum’ shade, this is perfect if you’re not comfortable to wear red lipstick yet (like me) as this has more pink in it. I like to refer to this shade as Brave’s older sister.
The final accessory to complete all my winter outfits: If you followed me on my travel series earlier this year, you will know that I went to Edinburgh for a few days. What I didn’t mention were these Scottish checked scarves that I got for a really good price. I think it was 4 for £30? They are made of 100% lambswool. It feels super cosy and gorgeous on the skin. I spent a lot of time just choosing colours – some are more statement, whilst others are more toned down or would suit any outfit easily. Love!
What have been your favourites this season? Are there any products you’ve been reaching out for more lately? 🙂 ❤
