Super Favourites and Not-So-Favourites 2016

Hello lovely people! ūüôā I’m not really one to celebrate Christmas but I hope you all had a great time celebrating the winter holidays with your loved ones. One of the things that is apparent with making monthly favourites is that it’s¬†monthly which suggests products that I’ve grown to like or have been using a lot lately (in that month). However, it¬†doesn’t always quite suggest¬†how much I really like a certain product that extends beyond the months and seasons – a product that I’m happy to use all-year-round! It would seem like a ‘beauty blogger no-no’ too to feature the same product twice or thrice in a row because readers love variety but not too much commerciality. So instead, to make this easier for you and me,¬†I’ve purposefully left products to be talked about here in all their glory without the ‘monthly’ tag. Contrary to that, I’ve also included some products that I haven’t been too fond of this year which I’ll talk about first so we can end this post on a high. Let’s …

December Monthly Favourites ft. YSL, Boots No7 and The Ordinary Skincare

Alas, it’s the last month of the year! Hopefully you all will have finished your Christmas shopping and wrapped all the presents, ready to gift! ūüėČ Holiday season is very much among us and quite possibly my favourite time of the year as I love winter, dark nights and hot drinks. (I know, shocking, I’m not that huge of a summer lover even if I am a summer baby.) This month features some new¬†game-changers in my day-to-day kit that I’d like to share with you as well as some absolute basics:¬† Skin System¬†Cosmetic Cotton Wool Pads Towel Hairband YSL Black Opium Eau De Parfum Boots No7 Youthful Eye Serum¬† Clinique All About Eyes The Ordinary Skincare – Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Serum Essie Nail Polish in ‘Spin the Bottle’ Cien Hydro Hand Cream Holland & Barrett Vitamin C-1000mg with Rose Hip Supplement Shall we start? Don’t underestimate the need for quality in essentials:¬†Cotton pads. Even if you follow the most basic of skincare routines, you’re bound to use them right? But isn’t cotton cotton? …

The Rawness of My Skin

Skin. My skin at least. It’s a constant battle. There’s the calm before the storm. Then there’s the aftermath which is the worse bit as you’re left to pick up the pieces and attempt to ‘fix’ your skin again. (I hate that word. It’s such an artificial word and suggests there was something very¬†wrong when many more people suffer the same way.) It destroys your confidence and you feel like you’re back to zero again. Back to square one. The feeling of heartbreak at this point, is quite an understatement as you look to calm yourself (and your skin) down again but inevitably just feel all-round shitty about yourself. Feeling deflated and deadbeat is probably a better way to put¬†it. Although don’t get me wrong, I have my good days too and generally have better control now. The idea of skin first came to my attention at the age of 12. And I’m not even talking about acne, pimples and blemishes although I did experience those things. I’m talking about a skin condition that solidly …

Tumblr Taught Me: All The Ways to Wear a Sweater

I love a good sweater, do you? Okay, that wasn’t a very bright question because I can’t imagine anyone who doesn’t love a good sweater! The only time you might not like one is if it’s not a good sweater at all (very dependent on fit and feel for me) or if you’re not quite wearing it right and making the most of it! I am a large hoarder of pretty things. On the internet. (See what I did there? Albeit, in real life¬†I hoard what I can because…limitations.) And my recent platform for that is Tumblr. (Yes, I’m¬†very¬†late to the game.) These are just a snippet of pins that I’ve reblogged on my Tumblr over time that I think are full of sweater-envy and style-envy. Are you ready? Broken is Beautiful Your sweater has a large hole in it? Don’t throw it away just yet! I know. It’s disheartening when your favourite piece of knitwear gets caught on a piece of jewellery or some other device and gets ruined. But it’s still not a …

The Ordinary Skincare Haul +First Impressions

There has been a hot topic going around on the internet: The Ordinary Skincare. Perhaps you have heard of them already through their parent company Deciem, which is home to skincare brands NIOD and Hylamide.¬†Or if like me, follow (and adore) Wayne Goss on YouTube and have been sold by his recommendations of the brand’s products. In short, The Ordinary offers¬†insane prices for cutting edges products – notably serums, which would otherwise cost you the earth elsewhere. (Okay, not really but you get the gist.)¬† We’re talking ¬£5/6 per product (with few exceptions) which is practically drugstore pricing, but when concerning serums/treatments, this really gives other brands – drugstore or not, a run for their money. Because it really works. Note: For reference I have combination/oily skin type. Here is what I got and my first impressions thus far: Hyaluronic Acid 2%+B5:¬†Hydration in a bottle. If your skin ever needs a drink, it’s this one.¬†This is slightly sticky, but comfortable to use. It absorbs quite quickly so the stickiness disappears¬†just as quickly too. Overnight magic. …
