I’m planning to grow my blog more in the next year or so and it’s time to add another important aspect into my life: beauty. In some ways, I can imagine an eye-roll considering the negative connotations that come with beauty and with liking this, liking that; being like this, being like that. But I’ll leave this talk for another post đŸ™‚
This particular post isn’t an overnight idea or one I brainstormed hard on. It just happened. This follows a true story, which come to think of it, I want this blog to embrace what’s natural to me too and what really happens in my lifestyle, as well as what I think.
On Sunday, I was due to meet some friends however, I woke up pretty late and as such, there was no way I was going to make it in time. Yet I still wanted to look presentable and put-together. My skin wasn’t in its best condition either (spotty) but it happens.
I remembered the previous week-end I had used the same routine which really took 10 minutes! So here goes, a 10 minute routine with 5 products only.Â
Anti-clockwise from the Top:
Clinique’s City Block Sheer SPF 25
Benefit’s Precisely My Brow Pencil
Isehan’s Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara
MAC’s See Sheer in Lustre Finish
Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder in Pale Yellow
Base
*Assuming you have finished your skincare routine or have at least moisturised.Â
Strictly no foundation if you only have 10 minutes because if you’re going to put on foundation, you need time to blend it and blend it well.
Instead, opt for a product that evens out your skin. I use Clinique’s City Block Sheer SPF 25 which evens out my skin and gives little coverage, enough to cover some redness.
Your favourite BB cream or tinted moisturiser can take this place.
Brows
You have probably heard on numerous occasions how important brows are!
So they should never be left behind if your aim is to look put-together (considering that you’re probably stressed from running late too).
I have recently added Benefit’s Precisely My Brow Pencil to my collection. £18.50 is really steep for a brow product but this does not disappoint at all. As easy as 1,2,3 whereas I have failed to use other pencils without having to correct and re-do it all.
Eyes
Mascara is my first ever make-up product but one I struggle to find that meets my requirements. Isehan’s Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara doesn’t disappoint and may actually be my favourite mascara ever.
It’s lash defining from root to tip, it lengthens and it actually separates my lashes. I recommend this one if you have pathetic lashes like I do!
Lips
** Want to know a cheat? If you’re out of time, leave applying lipstick for on public transport or when you’re actually there. Â
I have been really late to the party when it comes to lipsticks. I’ve only recently become more comfortable with wearing lipstick after knowing what colours suit my skin tone. (Unfortunately, I’m not that lucky person who suits every lipstick.)
MAC’s See Sheer in Lustre Finish is a recent favourite and is surprisingly easy to wear. It’s described as a ‘grapefruit pink’, adding a healthy colour to the whole look. With lustre finishes, I never have to worry about applying too carefully either. Perfect for on-the-go!
Finish
It’s important for me to use powder now that I’ve discovered it, and even more so, because I have combination/oily skin.Â
This particular product has made such a difference to my make up routine because I don’t have to worry so much about looking shiny anymore or having to re-apply every hour. It is the Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder in Pale Yellow.
It’s really finely milled so it’s invisible on the skin yet it adds a smooth finish and sets everything in place. On a long day, I only have to touch up once and even by the end of the night, I still look more-than-decent (i.e. not a mess).

I always envy people that can get the Heroine mascara to work, I have heard some people say it lasts through swimming for them! It just smears all over me & gives me panda eyes after a work day T.T
Does it really?!
It’s so waterproof on me and actually holds the curl! I have tried a couple of mascaras where after a minute or two, the curl just droops back down lol I think cos the formula is too wet. But this actually holds all night and doesn’t give me panda eyes. Even micellar water doesn’t remove it – I have to use oil.
